Since I got so much positive feedback on the iceberg cake, I figured I'd show off the other Sugarcraft cake I made...a tower cake. (It was a Dungeons and Dragons themed party).

Tower Cake

Following is the step-by step process I followed:

Baking the cakes in coffee cans and Pie plates

The finished cake pieces - mmmm extra chocolate

Once frozen they can be carved and iced together

The base with brown coloured fondant as dirt

And green fondant as grass lightly textured with a new pot scrubber

Coating the tower with butter cream

Rolling out the grey marbled fondant and texturing it

Wraping it and blending the seam was tricky

Capping the top with a fondant circle I also brushed on dilute black colouring to give it more depth.

The butresses were sculpted out of thick rolled fondant

Sticking the tower on the base with a glob of butter cream

Windows

and doors were made ahead of time from brown coloured fondant, painted with black food colouring for detail, and placed on an apple juice can to dry curved

Doors and windows applied

Piped on brown vines. The drawbridge was added to cross to the fondant stairs

Piping on the leaves and moss. Done.

I put candles on battlement tops in candle holders that could poke into the thick fondant there. To serve, the tower was collapsed, and everyone got a circular slice. It tasted as good as it looked (at least the kids all agreed)

Beinahe zu schade um ihn gefrässigen LARPern vorzuwerfen. Aber vielleicht eine Idee für eine Königshochzeit oder ähnlich pompöse LARP-Ereignisse. Ein Burgturm als Kuchen. Fantastisch umgesetzt von Rob A's (Im)personal Blog: Let them eat cake.
